The Marie Haps Faculty of Translation and Interpreting is pleased to extend an invitation to Professor Christopher Stone for a six-month research stay as part of the International Francqui Professor Chair.
To kick off this academic endeavor, an opening lecture titled "Evidence-based Practice: Research-Informed Interpretation" will take place on February 8 at 5.15 pm at the Federal Parliament, followed by a reception.
During this event, Professor Stone will be honored with the Francqui Foundation's International Professor medal, presented by Professor Pierre Van Moerbeke, the Managing Director of the Francqui Foundation.
This groundbreaking International Francqui Chair, collaboratively organized by UCLouvain, KU Leuven, and UNamur, marks the first time a Francqui Chair is dedicated to sign language and revolves around deaf communities. The lecture, primarily conducted in International Sign, will be interpreted into English, as well as the sign languages of French-speaking Belgium (LSFB) and Flanders (VGT).
Professor Stone's stay in Brussels will feature various events, including excellence classes, research seminars, meetings with teaching staff, a duo lecture, and a doctoral school. For more information, please refer to this link.
